Special Olympics has a special place in Terrydale's Heart. Special Olympics of Texas was our chosen organization when Brian Gramlich, Terrydale Capital's Owner, CEO, & President, was inspired by his father who passed away 2 years ago. Brian's father, Mike Gramlich's last contribution was in honor of his brother who is special needs and wanted all the contributions of his funeral to go to Special Olympics of Kansas. This deed touched Brian and his family, reminding Brian how important it is not only to give back but to also recognize how doing something small can make a big difference in someone's life. Brian's commitment is to continue to do events for the benefit of members of the community that he works and lives in. If you have a charity you feel passionate about, Brian Gramlich would be happy to see if himself or his company Terrydale can assist.
Participating in this event is vitally important to bring about these beneficial results for The Special Olympics Organization so they are able to unify individuals with and without intellectual disabilities together through Unified Sports. Special Olympics history started from a backyard summer camp for people with intellectual disabilities to a global movement, Special Olympics has been changing lives and attitudes since 1968. When Eunice Kennedy Shriver saw how unjustly and unfairly people with intellectual disabilities were treated. As the movement continues to grow, the joy of Unified Sports is bringing together people with and without intellectual disabilities on every continent. We invite the world to come to play with us -- and experience the transformative power of sports!
Furthermore, the pandemic greatly impacted many families' and individuals' lives. The Special Olympics Organization experience fills a critical need by providing opportunities for physical activity, social interaction, and the demonstration of independence to themselves, their families, and the community. Athletes learn developmental and life skills as the benefits of participation translate beyond sports. Special Olympics is a global movement of people creating a new world of inclusion and community, where every single person is accepted and welcomed, regardless of ability or disability. This organization is helping to make the world a better, healthier, and more joyful place—one athlete, one volunteer, one family member at a time.
